This is traditional Bwiti Fang initiation by a consecrated Nima (spiritual father) in the Mboumba Eyano tradition.
Over six days and 5 nights, you’re guided through traditional rituals and tools to puirfy and meet your Higher Sefl, heal, and expand into who you are.
These tools include sacred wood, the sacred harp, songs and dances (sonic and embodied coding), purification rituals, elements from the forest and initiated community.
Initiation is about practice. You don’t just watch: you DO, observe, experience through a process of purifying, journeying and integration.
It starts with why do you want to do this? What do you need? What question, healing or transformation are you here for?

About the Bwiti Tradition
The Bwiti tradition originates from the Congo Basin of Central Africa.
It’s a mystical science that’s been evolving over thousands of years, passed down by the Pygmy peoples.
Bwiti is a ‘primordial tradition’, carrying ancient wisdom that forms the foundation of all human spiritual wisdom systems— the trunk from which many spiritual paths and religions have grown.
The tradition uses sacred wood, along with many, many other spiritual tools in the rituals during multi-day rituals.
The practice of the Bwiti encompasses a constellation of branches (sets of rituals), including Bwiti Dissoumba of the South, Bwiti Missoko and Bwiti Fang.

About the Bwiti Fang + Mboumba Eyano branch
The Bwiti Fang is a journey of going in to the heart and through to the beyond. The process supports you with connecting with the subtle layers for your freedom, wisdom, peace and expansion.
MBOUMBA EYANO is specifically designed for meeting your Higher Self.
The form of this initiation is delicate and extremely textured. It allows you to journey fully in the spiritual-subtle realms, allowing you to travel far and deep within yourself and existence itself.
You can receive healing, knowledge and wisdom to apply to your life as well as open to greater mystical knowledge.
Taking place within an initiatic room, the process involves several days of purification rituals, allowing you to raise your frequency, increase your sensitivity and contact your Self more deeply.
Here, you can receive dreams (visions), messages and healing even before eating sacred wood.
Throughout the process you also speak with the Nima (consecrated master) to help you understand and go deeper.
Finally, you eat the sacred wood and journey with the accompaniment of the sacred harp, specific songs, the Nima and initiated people of the community.
After the initiation, you have time with the Nima to understand your experience and receive more wisdom from the Bwiti Fang Tradition.
About the team
The Spiritual Fathers & Beti
The spiritual fathers we work with are consecrated masters. They’re respected in the tradition, following the protocol with precision and care.
The traditional harpist (Beti) is also consecrated and has been doing this spiritual work for 21 years.
The support team
Coco and Tersius are Organisers, Assistants and Students.
After studying embodied and psycho-spiritual paths, Coco was initiated into the Fang and Missoko branches of Bwiti. She later lived in Gabon to deepen her studies. Now living in South Africa, she continues to study and organise initiations in Africa.
Tersius is a musician and herbalist with 18 years of study in shamanic traditions, including the South African Igqirha lineage. He is initiated in Bwiti Missoko and Bwiti Fang. His work is rooted in traditional African wisdom, nature and sonic art. He has several years of experience with sacred wood.

Location, transport & weather
The venue is at a Farm stay in the Western Cape, South Africa, surrounded by nature with beautiful views and restful surrounds.
We are entering summer at this time of year, so we expect lovely Southern African weather.
Accommodation
Accomodation includes a shared double room. Please note that 1-2 nights of the retreat will include shared sleeping in a larger temple space.
